In The Midst Of It

Life comes crashing in, pounding from all sides.
Highs, Highs, Highs
Victories and Celebrations
And then the lows
So strong, so intense
The current of life moves to draw you beneath the surface
Crashing, Falling, Slipping into the Waves of Despair
But there is One
He enters the tumult, grabs me by the shoulders
And draws me in to a loving embrace
"Look at Me. See Me. I am TRUTH."
He beckons
Into the depth of my heart flows love and peace
No the waves didn't stop
Yet all is calm
My heart is settled and fixed on Him
He alone is my prize

Renown

From Shame to Fame
I live to make His name renown

No longer timid or caught in the web of false humility
My eyes hath opened
I now realize the lie in its severity
"It's not me, it's Jesus," I've meekly replied

"More of Him and less of me"
My Christian cliche to ward off pride

Through the lens of love
Truth is revealed
All the broken and shattered places are healed

True humility is my total dependence on You
All of me covered by all of Thee
No longer do I cower or seek
to hide my greatness
No longer do I run or shy away from radiance

I know who I am and what I carry
Overshadowed by Your Spirit just like Mary

I'm a beggar before You
And a King before Men
I've got to have more of Your Presence
For breakthrough I doth contend

I'm not satisfied with the status quo
I want to see greater works
An heir to Abraham's promise is who I am
Through me the nations of the world will be blessed

I've been freed to make Your name renown
I know who owns the crown

The glory which Abba gave You
You've given to us
An encounter with You we owe to the world
To demonstrate Your love is a must

From Shame to Fame
How glorious Your name
in all the Earth
For none can compare
to Your matchless worth!

To walk with You
To live for You
To make Your name renown
I've accepted that you've
enabled me, equipped me, empowered me
to do good works

No longer will I cower or shy away from
All you've called me to do
I've come into alignment
You've given me an assignment
That only I can carry through

I am your workmanship
An original masterpiece
I will bring you fame
Because that's who you've
created me to be

To be an influencer
An encourager
A lover
A peacemaker with all men
To bring Heaven's reality to Earth
No matter the circle I'm in

To believe that You are
And that Your power dwells in me
A life of co-laboring is my destiny

Creation is groaning for the unveiling of sons
It's time for us to take our rightful place

To encounter the love of God
To become an encounter
To lead others into your face

The shining of my light
A mere reflection of Your glory

Everything I am is because of You
For the glory of my King

The overflow is for my guests

My Kind of Place

There was once a church that was filled
with freedom and people grew in love and revelation. 

There once was a church where the people
lived with hearts connected in authentic community
and laughter was a very normal thing. 

There once was a church where there was a shared vision
and all the people knew the biggest thing they could be a
part of was living loved by Father, Jesus and Holy Spirit.
Then doing life as an expression of the overflow of
that love.

There once was a church that was free of church poop
because the people were committed to live in honor and
healthy confrontation no matter how hard that might be.  

There once was a church where the personal transformation
of the people impacted a city and changed the world.

Said church exists in the heart of the Father...on earth as it is in heaven.

I left my heart in Inman Park
My soul is stuck in midtown
The sights and sounds of the city
Call out for me
City life so full of beauty

So deafening is its roar
My heart is crying out for downtown
Tis the city I do adore

I've set my foot down,
Claimed the A as my town
The city calls out to me

The city alive
The city electric
In the A, as it is in Heaven

Deep wells of the past
Prophesy its future

Can I Trust You To Love Me

From the little girl in me.  For every person who has ever felt controlled or manipulated by another. For every parent who shadows or suffocates their child's life out of fear of their choices.  For every person who has been set free to love. For every person still searching for that freedom, may you find it in the arms and eyes of the One who gave His life for you - Jesus Christ and His Heavenly Daddy.

Can I trust you to love me

Can I trust you
to hold my hand in your heart
Without laying it down
Or breaking it apart

Can I trust you
to lead me
To guide me with your eye
Without trying to control me
Or make me comply

When I look in your eyes
will I see love
 or disappointment
will you simply berate me
Taunt me

Can you call out my gold

Spew vile words and curse

To teach me to think

I don't know that I can trust you

I can't change you

The freedom I walk in

I no longer have to
Shrink back

I'll choose to risk loving you
Even though you'll want to exert power

I'll receive His grace

The sting of your rejection
Swallowed up in Christ's victory

There's freedom in that
That keeps me from withholding
There's a confidence I gain in Him

His eyes define me

I'm not sure that you know how
But there is One who loves me truly
Restored my glory

There is One who restores
What I lack
The pain of my wounding
Was taken upon His back

In Him my love tank
Is filled to overflowing

Because of Him
I'll take the risk

I'll love regardless

Who I am
Is not defined by you
I'll love like my Heavenly Father

With passion
With fervor
With commitment

I can't control you

To be the same me
No matter the situation

Give people a chance

To choose truth over lies
See gold where there's dirt

To run to Papa with my hurt

Hurt people hurt people
Healed people heal people
Controlled people
become controllers
Or worse
They become victims

It's over
We say no
It's time to end this
senseless rhythm

Maybe I can't trust you
But I can trust Him
And with that knowing
I'll go out on a whim

Love heals.

The Falls

On a prayer retreat (April 2011) in Moravian Falls, NC, this poem welled up from the depths of my heart as some friends and I were observing a small waterfall.


Rushing towards beauty
Reigning over rocks
Gushing. Bubbling. Springing Forth.

The sound a song
Melodious. Harmonious.
The earth rejoice

What are you saying?
What do you know?
What secrets lie in the rhythm of your flow?

Tell me a story
An age old tale
Tell me the origin
From whence you hail

What message from heaven
Does your waters bring?
What song does your symphony
Sing to our King?

A display of His wonder
Pouring forth from above
Drench the earth with your dew
Fill us with your love

Nourish us
Refresh us
Heal our parched souls
Come living water
Come make us whole

Even at the beach the shells tell a story
Some broken
Some cracked
Some fragmented
Some whole

Fresh from the deep
The shore scattered with shells
The light of the sun shining into my soul

Shells seemingly priceless
Shells deemed worthless
Shells kicked and tossed
Discarded from use

Like the shells on the beach
The souls of men judged
Worthy
Worthless
Treasure
Refuse

Up on the beach
The Saviour comes
The Lover of our soul
Mending the cracks and broken pieces
Restoring the shells to oneness
Making them whole

Like the shells on the beach
The souls of men
Once deemed worthless
In the hands of Jesus
Worth is restored
Once deemed useless
In the hands of Abba
Value and purpose come to the fore

From the depth of the sea that hid me

Heaven Is Our Model

“Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth; for the first heaven and the first earth passed away, and there is no longer {any} sea. And I saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, made ready as a bride adorned for her husband. And I heard a loud voice from the throne, saying, "Behold, the tabernacle of God is among men, and He will dwell among them, and they shall be His people, and God Himself will be among them, and He will wipe away every tear from their eyes; and there will no longer be {any} death; there will no longer be {any} mourning, or crying, or pain; the first things have passed away." And He who sits on the throne said, "Behold, I am making all things new." And He said, "Write, for these words are faithful and true." Then He said to me, "It is done. I am the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end. I will give to the one who thirsts from the spring of the water of life without cost. He who overcomes will inherit these things, and I will be his God and he will be My son.” (Rev. 1-7)

Heaven is our Model
The world is our assignment
Destined to overcome
We are lovers of God by choice
Releasers of Peace
Exercising our authority
We’ve aligned our hearts with heaven
For the Kingdom comes fully equipped
My service is an overflow of my worship
With absolute dependence on God
I can only give what I have
Therefore I’m responsible to pursue His lifestyle
I am an open heaven
A carrier of His presence
A doer of His will, living in right relationship with Him
I express dominion through love
To discover and display Papa’s heart to the world
My heart beats with one overwhelming passion:
The delight of Daddy God
The Son can do nothing of Himself
I’m a total surrendered heart
Drawing on the superior reality
I’m committed to do my part
If it exists in heaven it is to be loosed on earth
This is what I was born for, my divine purpose from birth
When heaven invades earth, darkness flees
The works of the evil one are destroyed
Love, light, and life flow where things were once void
When heaven invades earth, there are no impossibilities
No exceptions
The heart of God is good
This is His glory, His manifest presence
Seas are stilled, the lame are healed
And people are free to be
When heaven invades earth
Creation stops groaning, children quit moaning
And sons live in excellence with humility
If it’s not in heaven, it’s fair game for removal
Compromise is not even an option
When heaven invades earth, shalom is released
Completeness, soundness, welfare and peace
When heaven invades earth, sons are exercising

I AM

Where the clouds kiss the sea and the line between the two blur, in that space of time, all that I know, all that I long for fades away.  Only one desire is clear, only one yearning rises to the surface...my heart longs for You.  In that secret place, in that quiet place, all that I am fades away.  All that is left is a longing to be set at one with You.  To anticipate, to experience, to draw from Your very breath.

Who are You that men would so yearn for You?  Who are You that men would die for You?  Who are You that You would cause one to fully abandon everything else and so completely say yes to You?

I AM.

Lord of All, Maker of Heaven and Earth.  Creator.  Potter.  Repairer of the Breech.  Fixer of All things broken.  The Divine.  The Reality.  I AM.

Before time was I AM.  When time ends, I AM.

If You are, then who am I?  In what way am I most aquainted with You?  In what way do I know the least about You?  What area of my life do I desire to upgrade?  What area do I desire most for You to reveal Yourself to me?

Oh to gaze upon Your Face, to behold Your Beauty.  What I've longed for more than anything is True Friendship and a Dad who Loves me, who tells me He loves me and knows how to show love to me. 

Are You the One?  Are You the One I've longed for all of my life?  Can I run to You? Can I trust with all of me?  Can I trust You with my secrets, my fears, my dreams? Can I trust You with my future, my hopes, my desires?  Can I trust You to be there when I am lonely?  Can I really trust You? Oh, how I long to trust You.

How do I begin to fathom Your nature and all that You are?  "Look upon me and you will see.  What do you see?" 

I see that You are good. 
You are love. 
You are righteousness. 
You are BIG. 
You are PEACE. 
You are JOY. 
You are PATIENT. 
You are LONGSUFFERING. 
GENTLE. 
FAITHFUL. 
HUMBLE.
ROYAL. 
AN ALL CONSUMING FIRE. 
COMPASSIONATE. 
MERCIFUL. 
BEAUTIFUL. 
KIND. 
GIVING/GENEROUS. 
WARRIOR. 
ALL KNOWING. 
ALL SEEING. 
POWERFUL. 
HOLY. 
PURE. 
TRUE LIGHT. 
LIFE. 
A NURTURER. 
A PROVIDER. 
You are PERFECT. 
You are the FULNESS OF LIFE. 
One God - yet three distinct persons.

Yes, Daughter.  I AM.  Now, look into my eyes.  Who are you?  "Who am I?"  Yes, in Me, who are you?

I am the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus.
I am a kingdom carrier.
I am chosen by God to see His goodness in the land of the living.
I am the head and not the tail.
I am alive in Christ.
I am Christ's ambassador.
I am an alien to this world.
I am an overcomer.
I am a King's Kid.
I am a joint heir with Jesus Christ.
I am seated in heavenly places.
I am a royal priesthood.
I am a holy nation.
I am a city set apart on a hill.
I am Abba's love child.
I am a daughter of Abba, the Most High God.
I am God's chosen.
I am Abba's favorite one.
I am the apple of Abba's eye.
I am Abba's delight.
I am the first and not the last.
I am equipped for every good work.
I am the Bride of Christ.
I am Papa God's happy thought.
I am quieted with His love.
I am empowered by Holy Spirit.
I am called to subdue the earth and rule over it.

Indeed you are, my child.  Indeed you are.

Ode To The One I Love

Cast away the heaviness
Light the embers in my soul
Draw me to Thy well
Where Thou Living Waters Make Me Whole
Light of the World
Cause the darkness to flee
Into the depths of my heart plunge
To cleanse e'er iniquity
Draw me to the feet of Jesus
Pour on Your Love and Oil
Settle e'er anxiety, fear, and worry
The tempest waves no longer roll
My heart is free to serve you

At your cross, my flesh doth kill
As the sun sets on a long day

My judgement paid on a cross at Calvary

Cheapens the blood Christ shed for me

"Glorious One"

The first line of this poem echoed in my spirit for days on end.  An exchange with a friend left me on the couch being loved by Papa God and from His healing balm these words flowed as I realized a major victory had been won in my submitting myself to be loved and parented by Him instead of turning to false comforts (snickers bar, vegging out, gossip, did I mention food?!) and tools of the dark kingdom (anger, defense mechanisms, offense, lashing out, withdrawing myself from the world).

“Glorious Ones”


I used to believe that God didn’t love me, couldn’t love me, wouldn’t love me

I used to believe that God was mad at me, angry at me, disappointed in me

I used to believe I wasn’t good enough, didn’t do enough, couldn’t measure up

I played cover up – hid my pain, concealed my shame

I was bound to the law, stuck in pity, chained by judgments, curses, lies and unforgiveness

Trapped in betrayal, deception, madness and unfruitful living

Then one faith full day I had an encounter with the Savior

“Stop kneeling at the cross my child. I’m no longer there. Behold I sit in glory at the right hand of my Dad and here you sit with me in heavenly places.”

“Come up here my Beloved. You are my workmanship. No need to be ashamed. Arise, Shine. Display my glory.”

And on that faith full day with words of love clearly spoken

The pain was gone, the veil torn, the grip of sin now broken

In the resurrected life, I live in grace

A renewed mind is being transformed

My life exists to become one with Him

The One in whose glory I am adorned

Joy Filled, Faith Filled, Happy and Free

I set my eyes on His and into Him I see

I see His love for me deep as an ocean

I see myself the way He sees me, a display of His splendor

Into this vast ocean called His heart of love, I do surrender

Grace is about His strength, not my own

Commissioned to do the impossible

The seed of His nature into me sown

Grace is divine enablement, God’s empowering presence

The ability to do that which I cannot do on my own with humility and reverence

I behold Him.

I become like Him.

The seed of His nature into me sown.

Once He was just fire insurance, master, then friend

Now He is my Papa and I am to be His daughter in law

For I am betrothed to the Bridegroom, a joint heir with Jesus

Receiver of the highest form of adoption known to man

Identity intact, He’s commissioned me to execute His plan

I’ve encountered God – the real God, not the one so oft misrepresented

Now I’m to make Him known. I have the family name

I’m one with the servant King

He’s clothed me in His righteousness

I bear His signet ring

With great boldness and confidence, authority and power

I decree, “On earth as it is in heaven.”

Your will, Lord, this very hour

I love Him. To be loved by Him – it’s now my life’s heartbeat

I’ve encountered His radical generosity

‘Tis so sweet

The love of my Heavenly Daddy and Jesus, His Son

The sweet communion of Holy Spirit, the Truthful One

All of my life, I’ve believed a lie

That salvation was the end all, be all

Truth be told – the lie unfolds

Salvation is just the beginning

The cross is an entrance into a whole new world

The door stands open for you

The plan was to bring many sons to glory

Creation awaits the unveiling of your sonship

Let the resurrected life shine through

Be free to be who you already are

God’s workmanship on display to the world

“O Glorious One, Arise and Shine

For the hour doth soon approach

O Glorious One, Arise and Shine

My Perfect Love Cast Out All Fear

The very thought of you I hold dear

I fashioned and made you in the image of my Son

Indeed your likeness is a glorious one

I fashioned and made you

I created you to be

A reflection of me to the world

They need to see

Arise and Shine, My Beloved

For This Reason I’ve Come

That you too might become my

Glorious One”
